My Love of Theatre! By Joy

I was recently cast as Helen Keller in the Miracle Worker!  If you don't know who Hellen Keller is she was a girl, who at the age of one and a half, got scarlet fever.  The scarlet fever  caused her to be blind and deaf.  The Keller family thought there was no way to reach Helen. They hired Annie Sullivan to try and teach her.  At first this was a disaster.  Helen ran away from Annie whenever she touched her (since she couldn't hear or see her).  Annie taught her with the sign language alphabet.  Eventually Annie and Helen became great friends and they stuck together the rest of their lives.  Back to the point.  As I put in Meet Joy!, I love to act!  I am also in Oliver with my two brothers Andrew and Matthew, my sisters, and my dad.

Nerf Gun Review:Stampede

Nerf Gun Review:Stampede

By Scotty

One of the fastest shooting nerf guns is the Stampede.  It shoots 4 bullets per second. That’s really good for a nerf gun!  It’s a great automatic gun and the length is about 2ft and 5 inches long. It also has the colors yellow, orange, and gray and takes 6 D batteries. That’s a lot of batteries but it last a long time. It comes in a huge box with a lot of stuff. I’ll name them; it comes with the gun (obviously), 3 clips that hold 18 darts, 1 clip that holds 6 darts, 54 slip stream bullets, a bipod, and a shield.
This gun is awesome for any kind of nerf gun battle. I’ll give this gun 5 out of 5 Nerf bullets and I definitely recommend this gun.

Fashion Friday:Flower Nails

Fashion Friday Presents:

Flower Nails

By Clair

These flowers are super easy to do on your nails!!!

1.  Pick you base color, I like baby blue!

2.  Apply strokes of nail polish you may need to apply more then one coat.

3.  Check if it is dry by getting a tooth pick and poke the side of your nail.

4.  If nail polish is dry add one clear coat of nail polish.

5.  To start the flower pour two very small piles (different colors) of nail polish onto a paper plate.

6.  Get another tooth pick and dip the end of it into the first pile of nail polish and put one dot per flower on your nail.

7.  Dip a different toothpick into the second pile and make five dots per flower around the first one!

Below is an example.  The pink would be your base color the silver your first pile and the yellow your second pile!

Water or Wine?

Water or Wine?

 By Joy

The wedding was wonderful.  Although, the wine had run out. There were some gigantic pots nearby that held around thirty gallons each.  The bride and groom, who were highly embarrassed, started panicking.  Because Mary wanted to help them, she approached Jesus.

Jesus protested helping because it was not yet his time for miracles.  Mary commanded the servants to do whatever Jesus asked them to do.  He told them to fill the jars with water.   When they took it to the steward he tasted it.
The steward, who thought the wine was tasty, surprisingly declared, "Most people serve the best wine first and then serve the cheap wine.  But you have not, you have saved the best for last!"
The disciples believed, for Jesus had turned water into wine.

Backyard Magic

Backyard Magic
By J.C.

The plastic Whiffle ball smacked off my brother George’s plastic bat and sailed through the air before hitting its mark my knee. “Ow!” I wailed, clutching my knee. “That hurt!” My best friend Hope hurried over. “Ella! Are you okay?” she asked me. I murmured I was fine. “Let me just go get some ice.” I limped into the house and into the garage, where we keep the big ice packs. I found one and pressed it to my knee. There, that was better. I replaced it and that was when I noticed a door in the side of the garage. I went over to it and opened it and went out. As I did, I felt a little buzz. I decided it was probably my imagination. I went around back and gasped. It seemed like everyone’s dream had come true! Hope had fairy wings! My brother was a baseball champion! And me, my dream had always been to have a magic wand. I reached in my pocket, I had one! What was going on? I ran over to Hope. “Hope, what’s going on!” She looked at me like I was crazy. “What do you mean Ella?” Then she frowned. “Can you make me have green wings?” I did, confused. How did this happen? How could I get back to the real world? This was fun, sure, but could I really live here for ever? I decided I might as well make the best of it and pulled out my wand. “Make me a sandwich.” A sandwich appeared and I ate it. All afternoon I played with my new magic. Hope flew me around and I watched my brother hit home runs the biggest ball players would’ve been proud of. But by the end of the day I was bored. There was no work anymore. If I wanted to paint a picture, I just made myself have talent. It was fun but it felt like I didn’t need to do anything, and sometimes doing it was part of the fun. To make a cake I just waved the wand instead of buying the ingredients and baking it. It was clear: I wanted to go back. But I couldn’t figure out how. That was something even the wand couldn’t do. Then I had a thought. What if I went back through the garage door? Full of hope I ran to it and tried to open it. But it was locked. Locked! I pulled out my wand and said “Unlock.” But even then the door wouldn’t open. I was doomed! But then I told myself to stop panicking and I ran back inside through the backdoor. I ran to the garage and into it, and then I unlocked the door. I ran back outside quick as lightning and over the garage door. I opened it  yes, it was open and ran into the house, my heart beating.
I walked carefully out the back door and nearly screamed with relief. Everything was normal, exactly how I’d left it when I went inside to get ice. I rushed over and started dancing. During it I fell and twisted my ankle. I reached for my wand and remembered I didn’t have one anymore. Well, that was okay. I stood up, limping and grinning wildly. Sometimes it was better to actually work for things.

Nerf Gun Review:Raider CS-35

Nerf Gun Review:Raider CS-35
By Matthew

This is one of my favorite guns!  The drum magazine holds 35 darts/bullets (but I'm able to fit 38 without damaging or jamming the gun)!  It has had about three jams, which were easily fixed, and I've had it for almost a year!  This gun is very easy to bring around on the go because it comes apart.  The colors are blue, orange, and gray!  It is 2ft and 3in with the shoulder rest as far out as it can go!  The shoulder rest is extendable, so it is comfortable for anybody!   This is the fastest manual (non-battery) gun I've ever owned.  My favorite part about this gun is it shoots the bullets super fast and a large quantity at a time.  I rate this 4 out of 5 nerf guns!  This gun costs $60.

George Washington

George Washington
By Andrew

George Washington, who was clever, was our first president of The United States Of America in 1789.  Since he was not a king he wanted to make it clear and had everyone call him "Mr. President."  He passionately cared about his country, because of this he even visited each of the thirteen new states.  During the French Revolution he helped keep peace between America and England.  He believed that people should live virtuous lives to keep their country strong.  People started calling him "The Father of Our Country."
